London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The serpentine front seat rail features a stylised, asymmetric motif and unites the splayed cabriole front legs with carved scrolled knees and toes.

Riding upon the original brass castors the traditionally stuffed seat is covered in a needlepoint tapestry of flora and foliage on a rich ruby red backdrop – their is a repair to the front of the seat pad, please see the photos.

Delivered ready for use in the home, a classic example of Victorian luxury.
