London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
Antique joint, or locker, stool from the mid-Victorian period c.1860.
Judiciously made from English oak, this delightful piece bears charm and practicality.

The traditionally stuffed leather seat pad is edged and finished with a further leather strap and brass stud work. The seat pad lifts on the original cast iron hinges to reveal a storage compartment within.

In pleasing proportion the piece is modestly decorated, with a deep relief, carved field panel and would make a great addition to a hallway or fireside.
A truly gorgeous antique presented in good antique condition with solid joints, waxed and polished ready for the home.
