English oak antique hanging shelf from the mid-Victorian period c.1870, with ecclesiastical overtones.
Very much in the gothic revival style, drawing upon Medieval art inspired by Pugin, this hanging shelf is beautifully carved, the focal point a quatrefoil window around a stylised central rosette which sits within an arched form.
The piece is topped with a subtly curved plinth.
