The field panels to the front feature naive, four pointed star motifs with the whole piece emanating a charming patination, especially evident around the hinges where the oak is lighter as a result of the years of polishing.
The lower part of the lid is fitted with a stay allowing the box to be used as a lectern and opening the lid reveals generous storage and four drawers with turned pulls.
The stand, with deep, formed frieze is raised on turned legs and stretchers featuring attractive, helical twists.
