Antique Charles II coffer dating to c.1660.

A fine example carcassedin robust, three by two, English oak framework, it is unusual, and a sign of quality, to have the back panelled as well as the facing sides.

The three plank top displays wonderfully with rich, dark hues of russet browns. A triple field panel front complimented by double panelled ends, are surmounted by a carved frieze with ecclesiastical overtones in repeating gothic arched form.

The lid lifts on iron strap hinges offering generous storage within and a candle box to one end.
