Original Antique Jacobean Country Oak Coffer C1620 - 40

Description

This is an original jacobean oak coffer and dating from aorund 1620-40. Constructed from solid oak it has a two plank top with moulded edge above a frieze and with three fielded panels to the front and side. It has its original iron strap hinges and original oak bottom with a rough sewn oak panelled back.

A feature of the coffer is that the sides and back have a carved frieze to the top. This indicates that the oak used to make this coffer possibly came from an earlier piece of furniture.
