Gents Ww1 Era Silver Trench Watch

A gents WW1 era silver trench watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around three minutes or so over 24 hours.

The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark), 1917 with the initials LW for Louis Weill for Weill & Co, watch manufacturers and importers. The front of the case is in good condition while there is some marking to the back. The bezel screws off to reveal the movement and dial; these should subsequently hinge out but the hinge has worn through over the years so the movement now lifts out completely. The movement is nice and secure in its case and is not affected by the hinge.

The plastic lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial has a nice feature red 12, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There are some hairline cracks radiating out from the centre and a little nibbling to the edge by number 5.

A later black leather strap has been fitted.
