Superb "Collinson & Lock" Display Cabinet

Description

A very fine 19th century rosewood and ivory inlaid display cabinet by the renown makers Collinson & Lock. Designed and possibly executed by Stephen Webb, this cabinet is profusely and intricately inlaid with ivory in the Florentine style with superb pen work detail. The glazed upper section enclosing two glass shelves and retaining the original velvet lining, the lower section with a two door cupboard, raised on square sectioned and tapering legs united by a shaped ivory line inlaid under-tier. The hand made brass locks by Cope & Collinson, with key. Sizes - Height...66''...168cm. Width...30''... 76cm. Depth...13''... 33cm. Provenance- With a letter from the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, dated 6th Nov 1963, attributing this cabinet to Collinson & Lock by virtue of similarities to items in their collection. Condition..Very fine and completely original.
