The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The movement is signed American Waltham Watch Co and it has the serial number 17,892,564 which dates it back to 1909.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which is engraved, ’Presented to George Lickley, on completing his apprenticeship, Xmas 1913’.
The watch measures 41mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the Illinois Watch Case Company. Unusually it has engine turned detail to both the front and back of the case; it is in very nice condition with minor marking. The front cover has black enamel Roman numerals around a small glass lens; there is a little marking to the lens and a small chip underneath.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. There is a plastic lens which is in good condition. White enamel dial with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
