Rare Antique English Inlaid Walnut Cantilever Jewelry Box C.1870

Description

In all the years I have been dealing in antique boxes, I have never had one of these inlaid walnut boxes with this wonderful fitted interior. The box is made from Walnut and beautifully inlaid with tunbridge parquetry.

The top opens to reveal a bank of three cantilever drawers which pull out either side, all with the original silk and velvet lining; the interior of the base and lid have been re-lined in a hand marbled paper.

The box comes with a working tasselled key. Victorian in era, dating to c.1870. 12" x 9" x 5 1/2" while closed.
