Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.

The dish stands on four wonderful stylish ball and claw feet leading up to a scrolled terminal joining the dish; the legs are joined by a heavily cast floral and foliate skirt. The interior retains the two dishes inside, one pierced which sits inside the other to drain food kept within. These are perfect on a buffet to serve either hot (with hot water beneath) or cold (with crushed ice below) dishes; a very impressive addition to any occasion.

The underside is marked for the well renowned silversmith, John Round, using his trademark "All The Round". Shown in the last photo is an old bruise to the lid which shows in certain light, the plate undisturbed; shown for accuracy purposes only. Overall measuring 11" x 9" x 10" tall to top of handle.
