Description

This very impressive antique mahogany chest on chest is a real statement piece of furniture, with lots of character & nice proportions, being tall & slim. It has canted corners with blind fretwork on the top & bottom. The graduated flame mahogany drawers have fine dovetails, original brass handles, plus locks & this chest sits on bold bracket feet. It has a generous serpentine shaped front & is in good original condition. It also has a brushing slide in the middle & it separates into two sections for easy transportation. I would date it to around the 1890-1910 period. The drawers have fine dovetails & solid oak bottoms. The top cornice has a Greek Key moulding with individual tear drop mouldings below that. This is a top quality piece, with solid wood throughout, even on the back & consequently it's quite heavy. It does come apart into two sections for easier transportation.
