A Very Fine Rosewood Card Table by Gillows

Description

GILLOWS of LANCASTER: A very high quality early 19th century and most attractive rosewood CARD TABLE by this eminent English firm of cabinetmakers.

The beautifully figured top opens and swivels for use, and is mounted with delightful beaded decoration to both sections of the top. The frieze is decorated with handsome applied "panelling" and further beadwork can be found around its lower edge. It is supported on a typical Gillows tapering octagonal base, with its bold gadrooned collar, leading to reeded legs with pretty matching paterae to both sides of each leg.

Complete with its original cast brass lion's paw feet and castors. 36ins (91.5cms) wide. An exceptional table.
