Gaetano Capone (1845-1924) , an Italian/american , Oil on board of Pergola, Capri c1890. His pictures are highly sought after and command good prices unfortunately the board has a cracking (see picture 3), which could be fixed but is reflected in the reasonable price.

Gaetano Capone practiced in his artistic passion in Italy, and after studying with Palizzi and Moretti in Naples, he sailed through the Mediterranean and northward across the Atlantic in 1883. The very next year, he exhibited his first American painting in the National Academy of Design and never looked back. Primarily a landscape artist, he also excelled at narrative portraiture and painted some coastal seascapes as well.
