Edwardian Silver Pocket Magnifying Glass by Britton, Gould & Co, Birmingham 1901

Description

This is a delightful and rather unusual silver magnifying glass by Britton, Gould & Co, of Hatton gardens, London. It is simple and elegant. The solid silver mount inset with a 4cm circular magnifying glass. The swivel handle fully hallmarked. It is still perfectly useable and would grace any desk.

Hallmarks:

BG&CO for Britton, Gould & Co

Lion passant.

Birmingham Assay mark.

Date letter "b" for 1901.

Condition:

Good.

Silver mount in good condition with no repair, just minor surface scratching commensurate with age.

Swivel mechanisn in perfect working order.

Glass with very minimal surface scratching at the centre and a tiny chip on one corner.

Dimensions:

Length opened: 10cm / 4 inches.

Length closed: 5.5cm / 2.2 inches.
