A Large Pair of Mahogany Victorian Period Carved Mahogany Armchairs

19th century
Description

A large pair of mahogany Victorian Period carved spoon back armchairs. Each with a finely carved shell cartouche on the top rail with acanthus carved shoulders and a deep buttoned padded back. The rolled arms also with deep buttoned detail, above a generous sprung seat with a serpentine front seat rail. Supported on finely carved cabriole supports with brass and porcelain castors. English circa 1860

Dimensions: 44" high x 32" wide x 29" deep (seat height 17")

Condition: The frames are in stunning original condition, a superb colour and patination. Upholstered in an ivory silk damask approximately 15-20 years ago. All the spring and webbing has been re-done. One or two very minor blemishes to the fabric, but otherwise in superb condition.
