Rosewood Library Writing Table by Gillows

Description

GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a fine quality early/mid 19th century rosewood LIBRARY WRITING TABLE in superb condition.

Below the beautifully-figured top, the shallow frieze features two long drawers, with egg-and-dart mouldings around the lower edge. It is supported on typical Gillows turned and reeded legs with 'gadrooned' collars around the bases which lead to the "apple" shaped solid feet with original concealed castors. Dimensions: 48 wide x 27.5ins deep (122 x 70cms).

**An almost identical writing table is illustrated in "Gillows of London & Lancaster" by Susan E. Stuart and a copy of an original drawing of an almost identical table is included.
