FJ & RD Story Antique Clocks has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The 10" diameter silvered brass dial calibrated from 28" to 31" with weather indications and fine quality starburst engraving to the dial centre.
The barometer reading is indicated by a blued steel hand and can be recorded with a brass set hand controlled with the set key below the main dial.
The dial enclosed within a polished cast brass bezel, with convex glass.
The silvered brass temperature scale is calibrated from 0º to 120º Fahrenheit, with a mercurial thermometer.
In addition the barometer features a hygrometer to the top of the case and a bubble level to the base of the barometer with the makers name engraved "Luppi & Solcha, Hull", both set within convex glazed cast brass bezels. There is also a convex "butlers mirror" set within a reeded mahogany surround.
The barometer is in fine original condition and is in perfect working order, accurately measuring changes in weather patterns as a result of changes in atmospeheric pressure.
The mechanism has been expertly cleaned and overhauled, with the glass tube thoroughly cleaned and the mercury within cleaned by triple filtration.
