A Gents Good Sized 1950s Smiths De Luxe Watch

1940 - 1960
Description

A gents good sized 1950s Smiths De Luxe wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is stamped Made in England.

The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs; this is a great size for a 1950s watch as they tended to be on the small side. The case has some marking and a little wear on the angled edges but overall the condition is very acceptable for a 1950s piece. The inner case back has the mark for the British Watch Case Company.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Smiths De Luxe, Made in England. It is in its original finish but but there is some discolouration and marking. Original gold coloured hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and inner minute markers (although only half still remain).

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
