Antique English Silver Plate & Mother of Pearl Jam or Preserve Spoons C.1890

Description

A wonderful pair of late Victorian jam or preserve spoons sitting in their original presentation box, dating to around 1890. Each beautifully shaped spoon is incorporates repousse or embossed decoration surrounding a central shield shaped cartouche and hand chased. The back of each is marked with the makers mark for Joseph Elliot & Sons of Sheffield and E P for Electro-Plated.

The handles are made from carved Mother or Pearl or Nacre shell with it's iridescent qualities with a bright shiny patina.

The box interior is in fabulous condition luxuriously lined in deep Burgundy velvet and Raspberry coloured silk. Excellent condition, each spoon measuring 6 1/2" long the box measuring 7 3/4" x 3 3/4".
