Description

A charming and highly decorative small desk-top letter or postal scale dating to the Victorian era, around 1860. It is un-signed but quite clearly would have been made by Sampson Mordan.

Obviously what makes this set highly desirable and sought-after are the circular pans being inset with green Malachite stones.

The weight caddy to the front is decorated with a brass rope mount and the five weights sit inside, the top dump weight is a replacement I think but creates the look most collectors like with the dump topping the weights.

Excellent condition, the footprint measures 5 1/2" x 3 3/4", the pans spanning 7" and standing 2 3/4" high.
