Carved Asian Camphor Wood Chest

1900 - 1920
Description

A good quality Asian camphor wood chest with deeply carved reliefs on the top and front of figures within a landscape, with trees and flowers, on stepped bracket feet dating from circa 1920-1930s. The sides and back are also carved (but shallower and less detailed). To the front are two shell carved hand grips along with its original fancy brass latch. Inside, the chest is clean and is lined with camphor wood with its distinctive aroma. Paper label to underneath. Would make a great blanket chest, storage box or could be used as a decorative coffee table.
