A Very Fine Quality Oak Center Or Library Table Made By Robert Strahan & Co Dublin.

This very fine table with its twin frieze drawers to one side and dummies to the rear above turned and carved supports resting on fantastic quality carved legs and concealed brass castors.
 
The table has a very unusual feature of turned mother of pearl escutcheons.
 
The table Bears both the STRAHAN name and number stamp on the drawer edges as well as being stamped STRAHAN on both ends.
 
The origonal paper trade lable on the inside of the drawer is in perfect condition.
 
The furniture firm of Robert STRAHAN & Co was founded in Dublin in 1776 and by 1845 they had two workshops as well as their main commercial premises. Known for their high quality work, the firm exhibited at the Dublin Great Exhibition in 1862. They supplied furniture to many of the most well known Irish country houses including Doneraile Court, Lisnavagh, and Monte Alverno, many of which had their contents sold of during the 20th century.
