Fine Repeating Carriage Clock by Henri Jacot

Description

Henri JACOT: a fine late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK, by this famous maker.

Housed within its good "Corniche" case,with bevelled glass panels all around, the 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong and repeats the hours at will. It retains its original platform lever escapement, and is complete with its original numbered (17602) winding key and numbered leather travelling case. Full working order and guaranteed at least two years.

** Henri Jacot was a fine maker, winning Silver Medals in 1867 and 1878 and Gold Medals in 1889 and 1900 for his carriage clocks. Trademark is a parrot and the initials "H.J" ~ a "Jacot" is a French parrot or "Pretty Polly".
