Antique English Sterling Silver & Tortoiseshell Lidded Vanity Jar - 1915

Description

More unusual than most, this antique vanity jar has a screw top rather than the pull off lids more often found.

The jar is in great shape with it's cut multi-faceted body and the screw top fitted with a thick piece of period Tortoise Shell, seen from the interior too.

The domed lid is beautifully polished and inset with a central circular piece of Mother of Pear ans surrounded by pretty intricate silver pique work.

The silver is fully hallmarked for London 1915, 100 years old this year; the makers initials L & S are also present for the well renowned silversmith, Levi & Salaman.

Excellent condition, the lid having a diameter measuring 2 1/2" and stands 2 1/4" tall.
