Stunning Sterling Silver and Enamel Topped Powder Jar - Butterflies

Description

A really top-notch example of a powder bowl consisting of a beautiful cut crystal bowl and a heavy lid, made from sterling silver and decorated with Guilloche Enamel.

The bowl is cut with large Butterfly motifs around the sides, most unusual and absolutely charming.

The lid is made from solid English sterling silver hallmarked for Birmingham 1935 with a gilded interior; the knob on the top is silver gilt and is also hallmarked. The makers initials, AC, are also present for the silversmith, Albert Carter of Birmingham.

The enamel is a stunning blue colour with a shiny patina, showcasing the intricate engine turning below.

The bowl and lid are both in superb condition. 4 3/4" in diameter x 3 1/4" tall.
