Description

A good quality mahogany Chippendale influenced sideboard by top maker Waring & Gillows. Standing on well carved claw and ball legs with acanthus leaf decoration to the knees. This sideboard has 2 cupboards both with fielded panels, applied mouldings and quarter veneered centres. One cupboard with a cutlery drawer, the other with a cellarette. The large centre drawer of bow fronted form with very good quality cast brass ring handles and stamped "Waring & Gillows". The solid mahogany bow fronted top with gadrooned edge and a low mahogany up-stand with further gadrooning and holding the wonderful solid and cast brass gallery. The gallery has baluster shaped turnings with square cross rails and attractive cast honeysuckle foliage and topped with cast urn shaped finials. In superb original condition, with working locks and keys.
