Lovely to find a top quality scale with a base made from exotic Coromandel, sitting on four original turned bun feet and the original paper covering to the underside.

Made by the creme de la creme of makers, Sampson Mordan of London, the balance is signed.

The pan is beautifully engraved with the postal rates of the day which allows us to date this example accurately to between 1885 and 1897.

The scale comes with an handsome set of five brass weights.

A superb example in excellent condition, measuring 10 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 4 1/2" tall.
