Newman.

The box is beautifully fitted with a removable pen tray with one glass inkwell (originally probably two); a lidded compartment for tubes of paint, a glass water bowl, the metal tin opening both top and bottom containing chalks and charcoals; the delightful collection of paints marked Newman's, Soho Sqaure and others (Winsor & Newton). There is a pull out drawer below, accessed by the flush brass inlaid campaign style handle, the interior of the drawer accommodating a ceramic palette signed Winsor & Newton, London.

A good early example in excellent used condition dating to c.1830, nearly 200 years old. Complete with a working (replacement) key. 12" x 9" x 3 3/4" tall.
