Gents 1940s Smiths Wrist Watch

Description

Gents 1940s Smiths wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which is working well and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Smiths.

The watch measures 29.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The fashion was for men to wear smaller watches in the 1940s and 1950s so this watch is on the small side and it would suit a gent with a slimmer wrist, or it could be worn by a lady. The Denisteel case by Dennison has some marks, mainly to the bezel, and some unevenness to the case back.

The lens is in good order.

The dial is in its original finish; there is light marking but it is very acceptable, especially for a 1940s piece.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
