Charming & Unusual Antique Italian Sorrento Tea Caddy C.1880

Description

A fabulous and most unusual tea caddy, dating to around 1880. Made from Burr Holly and Olivewood, the lid and all four sides have the most wonderful figural scenes inlaid and hand painted.

The four sides box has it's corners cantered to create an Octaganal lid framed in micro-mosaic geometric parquetry inlay, typical of Sorrento Ware.

The box comes complete with a working key. Dating to the late Victorian era, around 1880, the box remains in excellent condition. 4" x 4" x 4 1/4" tall.
