Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The cushion-shaped base is inlaid with ebony and features a lockable curved door and key.

The eight-day movement is of gut-driven fusee, with its original brass pendulum, whilst the good white-painted convex dial is well signed and the blued steel hands are original, as is the cast brass bezel and good convex glass. Full working order and guaranteed at least two years.
Charles Frankcom worked alone as a clockmaker in Bath until 1819, when he is recorded forming a partnership with Mowat.
