Late C19th Chinese carved hardwood tripod table of rare form . Heavily-carved rectangular top tripod base occasional table of Anglo-influenced form . Inset burr thuya-wood or root-wood panel top ,with well-carved edge and pierced frieze. Supported on three ''umbrella'' style brackets onto a carved columnar shaft with lobed bulbous section, terminating in three swept legs with carved and incised decoration onto stylised carved claw feet. Heavy quality ''hongmu'' timber of rich dark colour and intensity . A scarce table design for Chinese furniture , of a form not seen before by us .Cleaned and waxed.
