Description

This good quality antique Victorian writing table has loads of character & has many fine features, so please enlarge all the images to appreciate this. The top is burr walnut, ebony & inlaid too, with a brown tooled leather writing surface. There is a finely dovetailed single drawer in the middle, which is also burr walnut, inlaid & ebonised, with original Gothic style brass handles. The back panel of this desk matches the drawer. The top ends have carved rosettes & other decoration on the brackets. The beautifully turned legs are also grooved & joined lower down with a decorative cross stretcher ledge. The legs culminate with the original black porcelain casters. Who ever made this piece had a great eye for detail. I would date it to around the 1850's period & it's in lovely original condition.
