Antique 1918 Silver Pocket Watch

An antique silver pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is ticking away and the time keeping is good to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement has a little patterning on it, a nice extra sign of quality. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the back covers for London (import mark), 1918 with a maker's mark for Emile George Tuteur. Tuteur was listed as a watch and clock material dealer and, at the height of the great cycling craze in the 1890s, he invented a combined watch and clip attachment for cycles so that the cyclist could easily see their watch while they were cycling. The case back has some unevenness to the hinged back but otherwise is in good condition for its age.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The enamel dial has bold black Roman numerals, blued steel hands and an outer minute track. There are is a hairline crack which radiates into three very faint hairlines.
