The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The movement is signed J W Benson, and it is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1937 with a maker's mark of JWB for J W Benson. Benson would have imported the movement from Switzerland and cased it and retailed it from their London premises. The case is in nice condition for its age with just light surface marks and some minor indentations to the back.
The plastic lens has minor marks but is very acceptable.
The enamel dial is signed J W Benson, London, Swiss Made. It has handsome blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
