English Longcase Regulator of Small Size

19th century
Description

A small and pretty early 19th century LONGCASE REGULATOR CLOCK in full working order.

The mahogany case has canted fluted columns flanking the convex glass hood door, long glazed trunk door and a base with applied mouldings leading the the lower plinth.

The 8-day regulator movement is superb, with five pillars and substantial shaped plates and features, as one would expect, deadbeat escapement; Harrison's maintaining power and a fine wooden and steel pendulum with very heavy brass bob. The engraved & silvered dial has a typical regulator layout with separate dials for seconds; minutes and hours. Signed: Johnston, Tottenham (LONDON). 6ft 2ins tall.
