Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The oval case is superb, being profusely hand-engraved throughout including the shaped handle, whilst the 8-day movement, which retains its original platform escapement, strikes hours and half-hours on a gong, repeating hours at will.
Signed: "B" in a circle, possibly produced by the firm of Brunelot. Engraved oval carriage clocks are quite rare; this is a gorgeous example.
