Gents Oversized 1940s Jelmy Wrist Watch

1920 - 1940
Description

A gents 1940s Jelmy wrist watch of large proportions.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is ticking away and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 38mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs which is unusually large for a watch from the 1940s; a time when smaller watches were in fashion. The plated case has pitting and marking commensurate with its age. The snap-on case back is stainless steel.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Chronometre Jelmy Suisse. There are small dots across the dial, and some discolouration but overall it has charming vintage appeal. One of the hands appears to be a later replacement.

A new brown leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
