A Stunning Quality Mahogany Edwardian Period Breakfront Bookcase

1900 - 1920
Description

A stunning quality mahogany Edwardian Period breakfront bookcase. The upper section with a raised breakfront central section, dentil moulded cornice and having a central rectangular astragal glazed door, which opens to reveal a mahogany shelved interior, flanked by similarly astragal glazed end doors again with mahogany shelved interiors. The lower section again of breakfront outline and with a beautifully figured solid mahogany top with three rectangular mahogany lined frieze drawers with beautifully cast Robert Adam designed oval brass handles and having four mahogany inlaid doors with internal mahogany shelving. The whole supported on a solid mahogany plinth. The quality of this bookcase is superb in every aspect of its construction and the choice of timber, craftsmanship etc would lead us to believe that this was made by one of the premier cabinet makers of the period such as Gillows or Maple & Co. English circa 1900-1910

Dimensions: 99" high x 78" wide x 24" deep (the top is 14.5" deep in the centre, 13" deep at the ends)

Condition: This bookcase is in excellent original condition, a wonderful warm colour and patination
