An Arts & Crafts Oak Bench by Shapland & Petter

1900 - 1920
Description

A rare oak Arts & Crafts Period bench by Shapland & Petter Of Barnstaple. Having a shaped back with typical Shapland & Petter pierced heart tulip supports and with a hand beaton copper panel "Welcome Ever Smiles" which is a Shakespearean quote from "Troilus and Cressida". Having shaped arms with further pierced heart motifs, the solid oak shaped hinged seat opens to reveal storage area. With twin panelled front and sides, the whole supported on shaped block feet constructed using beautifully figured quarter sawn oak throughout. English circa 1900-1910

Dimensions: 42" wide x 15" deep x 43" high

Condition: This bench is in excellent original condition, cleaned and waxed
