1920s Gold Plated Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

A charming 1920s gold plated pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is ticking away happily and the time keeping is good to within around three minutes over 24 hours. The movement has 15 jewels and it is protected by an inner hinged cover which has been engraved to read, 'To Len, with love from Amy, 30th September 1924'.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the English watch case maker Aaron Dennison. The case has general surface marks commensurate with its age, and a small indentation to the side.

The watch lens is a later plastic replacement; it is in good condition.

The white enamel dial has several hairline cracks. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
