A Rare Brass & Ruskin Stone 4ft6 Bed (Double)

Description

A rare all brass 4ft 6 double bed with the unusual detailing of 2 Ruskin Stones Inset to the foot end, This elaborate bed having heavy end posts with turned knobs, retaining the original oversized porcelain castors. Superb original condition throughout. This bed comes complete with a wooden slatted base that will take a standard double (4ft6) mattress. English, Circa 1900

Ruskin Pottery was founded in 1898 by Edward R. Taylor and run by his son William in West Midlands of England. It was named after the writer artist John Ruskin. The pottery was famed for its innovative glazes. When it closed in 1935 they destroyed all of their glaze formula.
