Description

A good quality and attractive Victorian harlequin davenport made from beautiful burr and figured walnut veneers. The hidden sprung stationary compartment has a boxwood interior with 3 small drawers and pigeon holes with a fret carved gallery above. The piano shaped fall opens to reveal a 2 drawer interior and an adjustable pull out writing/reading slope which retains the original brown and gold tooled leather writing surface an ebonised pen tray and space for 2 ink pots. The panelled front with top quality carved decorative supports resting on a concave shaped plinth with turned bun feet and hidden castors. The right hand side with 4 mahogany lined drawers all with turned walnut knobs, brass escutcheons and working locks(with keys). The left side with false drawers and matching turned knobs and escutcheons. The freestanding back with matching burr walnut panel and applied mouldings. Good quality and condition.
