Grand Antique Tiffany Sterling Silver Soap Box C.1900

Description

A wonderful and most unusual antique sterling silver travel soap box made from a good gauge of silver, to be expected from this creme de la creme of retailer's.

The base has raised edges and a raised decoration to the lid and four sets of pierced or reticulated holes in a circular configuration to let the soap air and dry out while travelling.

The box shuts firmly and when opened reveals a lavishly gilded interior. It is on the rim that the signature for Tiffany& Co. can be found together with "Sterling Silver 935-1000" .

Excellent condition measuring 4" x 2 3/4". Dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian era, c.1900.
