A stunning original antique French clock set featuring exquisitely painted Sevres style porcelain urns and panels. They depict beautifully tranquil country scenes against a rich royal blue ground with delicately painted over-glaze gilt decoration. The dial is also porcelain, lettered in black with finely fretted brass hands. The case is finely modelled in gilt metal in the Rococo style with bold acanthus scrolls and a cherub's mask. Particularly nice is the suite of original gesso bases.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Please note that this type of clock doesn't have a glazed bezel or back door.

Condition of the case is very good, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no major damage, just some small chipping around the winding holes. The vast majority of the over-glaze gilt decoration is fresh and complete with remarkably little wear including the dial. A very pretty clock set to add to your collection. c
