Sold by: Waterfall Antiques

An absolutely exquisite 19th century linen press/gentleman’s wardrobe in mahogany. This superb example has an overhanging cornice over two semicircular arched doors that open to reveal a full complement of solid mahogany slides. These can be taken out and stored, and a rail installed to create a half-height hanging compartment. There are graduated drawers below, all in solid mahogany and all with their original turned knob handles. This wonderfully elegant low-waisted piece of English cabinetmaking dates from c.1825/1850. There is a working door key and the top full-width drawer also has a working key. It is presented in superb original condition with a rich, warm, glowing colour and patina; it would grace any room in a period or contemporary home.
