Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1910s.

The lid is made from sterling silver with a lavishly gilded interior. The domed top is covered in a wonderful blue guilloche enamel showcasing the stunning engine turning below.
The side of the lid is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1914, the makers mark can be made out for the top-notch silversmith, Mappin & Webb, which verifies why the quality is exceptional. The lid measures 4 1/2" x 3 1/4"; the box standing 2 1/4" tall.
