Handsome Shagreen Box C.1920

Description

A wonderfully handsome original Shagreen box with lovely curved corners and a wooden carcass seen once the hinged lid is opened.

There is one tiny blemish, insignificant but shown for accuracy. The box can only be described as excellent condition as so many original pieces are in poor tired condition with surface loss.

Shagreen is made from Stingray or Shark skin first used in the eighteenth century, very popular in the early twentieth century and very sought-after in 2015.

Excellent condition 4" x 3" x 1 7/8". Perfect for a lady or gentleman as a small jewelry box, cufflink box or playing card box.
