Gents 1940s Smiths De Luxe Wrist Watch

Description

A gents 1940s Smiths De Luxe wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is stamped Made in England.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is plated and there is some marking and wear commensurate with its age. The stainless steel screw-on case back has the case maker's name of Dennison, a prolific English watch case maker.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Smiths De Luxe, 15 Jewels, Made in England. There is light marking but overall the condition is very nice for such an early piece. Original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
